Dia 0 - Lisboa - Londres

Day 0 – Lisbon – London

It seemed like this day would never arrive, after so many months of training and preparation in the gym and on never ending bike rides, but there I was at terminal 1 of Lisbon airport ready to catch my flight to London.

On m head there was only thing that mattered – the safety of my bike, my travel companion for so many kms.  After being packing the bike very safely on the bag, the three of us (me, my husband and my travel donkey) went to the endless line for luggage deposit. After what seemed like an eternity, but was only 30 minutes, the luggage and bike were dispatched and there was still time for the last good quality coffee that I would drink in the next 5 days. With all goodbyes said, last advices given, some anxiety and angst and there I went for the safety control and boarding.

Upon arrival to London met my colleague Manuela Tiziani – wonder women on wheels – from Zurich, who would accompany me until the very end of this journey including the return to Lisbon. The biggest emotion of the day was when I saw my bike bag arriving very quickly and totally unarmed.

Our colleague from the London office – Ian Johnston – who would be one of the best journey companions on this journey and a friend for life – came to pick us up at the airport. Upon arrival to Chiswick Park offices we started assembling our little puzzles back together and preparing all gear for the great adventure waiting for us. We could hardly wait for it to begin!!!

The remaining companions arrived throughout the day just in time to enjoy the first of many meals that would always be full of good disposition.
